I have sent out the control message to create a can.francais newsgroup,
whose purpose is to discuss topics related to the French language in Canada.
Not all news reading programs notify their users about new newsgroups ('rn'
does). You may have to edit your .newsrc manually. Also, the mechanism by
which newsgroups are created automatically is inoperative at many sites
(either because of broken software or as a policy decision). It may therefore
take a take a week or two for things to settle down, since manual intervention
from news administrators may be required.
It is summer, after all (this is one of the odd years where we are actually
getting one :-).
