A recent graduate from here moved to Mount Royal College in Calgary, and managed to get some mail to me with the return address "ppospisil@ins.mrc.adhocnet.ca". The gateway that forwarded it to me didn't work in the reverse direction, and none of the .ca domain servers I can find (ubc, waterloo, and mcgill) will admit to having heard of it. Any hints on how to get through would be much appreciated. -- - irving - (reid@sask.uucp or {alberta, ihnp4, utcsri}!sask!reid) "Warning: don't use braces, tildes, circumflexes or double quotes as delimiters - chaos will result"

Adhocnet.CA is an aberration of sorts. It is a BITNET (NetNorth) pseudo-domain that has been defined for a very long time. It is similar to .NetNorth.CA in that it only exists for BITNET sites and isn't a registered domain. One can reach it by mailing to a BITNET gateway that knows about these pseudo-domains. It'll forward the message to UNCAEDU (Univ of Calgary?) which is the gateway for Adhocnet. Perhaps someone from there can elaborate. rayan
