[can.general] Miscellaneous comment regarding forwarders for CA subdomain sites

As regards the matter of finding forwarders (quoted from the Q's&A's doc):

>	Q: How do I find forwarders?

>A: If you don't have contacts already, there isn't much to do but to ask
>around. I recommend that you seek forwarders on the Internet and on NetNorth
>(Canada's BITNET). This is not a very practical thing for every small
>organization to do however. If you can agree with other sites in your
>area to pursue one (or a few) common forwarders for your geographical region
>(municipality or province). It would be very good if your region can compile
>a list of hosts willing to act as forwarders for sites in your area, and
>then spread the load among them (if they provide the service gratis).
>Organizations registering at the second level (right under CA), will need
>to make their own arrangements; having generic gateways into .CA is likely to
>be a poor idea due to the volumes involved.

It is probably an idea to get busy in the various regional newsgroups trying
to figure something out regarding this. Once you find someone that can do it
(technically), and might be willing to do it (politically and economically),
you should be able to sway the economic argument by pointing out the traffic
patterns won't change much from their pre-domainization state. It then becomes
a matter of how much effort hurried and harried admins and systems people
are willing to put in on the gatewaying function. If they wish to charge for
this service, that's their business; if not, you should be Real Thankful.

UUCP sites will know about your shiny new domain name, but there are no
promises any other networks will, without some effort from your part.
