     N e t N o r t h  /  C D N n e t    C o n f e r e n c e   8 8

      May 31 - June 2, 1988  at the  University of New Brunswick

SCOPE AND GENERAL THEME

     This conference is intended to bring together people providing
computer network services to the Canadian university community via
NetNorth, CDNnet and other networks.  It will focus on technical,
operational and management aspects of networks, as well as the planning
for internetwork cooperation and future network facilities and services.

     The conference will consist of a general program of submitted and
invited presentations, open forum discussions, the annual general
meeting of the directors of NetNorth sites, the annual general meeting
of the directors of CDNet sites, the NetNorth executive meeting, the
CDNnet executive meeting  and a social program encouraging extensive
discussion.

     This conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to
participate in emerging network opportunities in Canada and the U.S.A.
Presentations and open forum discussions are structured to encourage
attendees to influence the future direction of networking in Canada.

     The conference is sponsored by the NetNorth Executive Committee and
hosted by the University of New Brunswick, with the support of IBM
Canada Ltd.

THE PROGRAM

     An informal Welcome Reception and Registration will be held in
Lady Dunn Hall at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31.

     The conference will be held in Tilley Hall, commencing at 9:00 a.m.
on Wednesday June 1 and concluding at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2,
1988.

   Topics to be presented include:

     An informal Dinner/Cruise aboard the S.S. Pioneer Princess III will
be hosted by IBM Canada Ltd., commencing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June
1, 1988.

ACCOMMODATION
     Accommodation is available in either on-campus residences or
nearby commercial hotels.

     The rate for on-campus accommodation is $22.00 for single and
$32.00 for double. Those wishing to stay on-campus should indicate this
on the registration form.

ENROLMENT NOTE
     To encourage a productive interchange of ideas between the
participants attendance is limited to five persons from any one
institution.

     Enrolments from NetNorth member institutions should be submitted
through the NetNorth Director for that institution.

     Enrolments from CDNnet member institutions should be submitted
through the CDNnet director for that institution.

     Attendance from other interested institutions or individuals is by

     DEADLINE for enrolments is May 15, 1988.  Please direct any
inquiries regarding the program content to David Macneil at the above

     TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION: For the benefit of the persons chairing the
Open Forums, or to facilitate possible "Birds of a Feather" meetings,
please indicate below any issues that you wish discussed and any area in
which you have a particular interest.

     FEES: There is no registration fee for the conference.  Lunch on
Wednesday and Thursday and the Dinner/Cruise Wednesday evening will be
hosted by IBM Canada Ltd.  Attendees are responsible for all other
expenses.

     ATTIRE: Attire for all conference functions is informal.

     TRAVEL: Fredericton can be reached by plane, car, bus or VIA rail.
Fredericton is served by twice daily flights from Montreal and Toronto.
The conference timetable will be arranged with the flight times in mind.
Attendees are responsible for their own travel expenses.

     RECREATION: Facilities are available for tennis, squash, swimming
and jogging.

     SPOUSES' PROGRAM: Spouses are welcome to attend the Tuesday evening
reception and the Wednesday evening Dinner/Cruise. A Wednesday tour of
Fredericton will be organized if there is interest.
