As a result of Jordan K. Hubbard's recent awm posting in comp.windows.x, there has been some interest shown in creating regionalized depots for public domain X Window System software. I have volunteered to act as one of the regional sites for storing these programs and making them available to sites in Canada. (It seems to make sense to have one on the West Coast as well, but, I seem to be the only one offering now) What I need to know is, which sites are interested in this service and which sites would like to receive notification of new software? If the demand is great enough, maybe we could set up a mailing list or (dare I say it) newgroup to handle these things. Response from the U.S. sites seems to be excited. I have already had offers to ship software to this site for redistribution. I was responsible recently for making X Windows Version 11 Release 2 available and for making the Contributor's tape also available. Currently, I have a number of window managers, twm3.1 and awm also available. Any comments or ideas would be welcome. -david- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- David Haynes Geac Computers Canada Ltd.
