I would like to propose a forum for discussion of telcommunications issues specific to Canada and Canadians either as a can.telecom newsgroup or as a mailing list. Why? The current comp.dcom.telecom group is dominated by discussions of the US business and regulatory environment, Canadian submissions, when they make into the list at all are usually snowed under and certianly aren't reaching the right audience, in addition this gatewayed mailing list, while working fine now, is frequently broken or not being gatewayed. What about? Any telecommunications related issues, voice or data, with a Canadian "angle" this could include discussions about: - Legislation - CRTC Tariffs and Regulations - Service offerings by Canadian Carriers - Standards I don't know what, if any, is the protocol for establishing a can. group so I'll just throw this out for discussion and see what response it gets (if there is a convention, someone please tell me) Failing sufficient interest to justify a newsgroup, I'll volunteer to co-ordinate a mailing list.
