I am doing research to find ways of approaching alternative development through interdisciplinary research and local community initiative. I want to make the best use of Native Canadian worldviews in a global context of alternative sustainable development, which may be ultimately applied to deforestation in tropical regions, but is also generally applicable. I would greatly appreciate assistance in the following areas: Native worldview related to society and the environment, Native worldview related to access to natural resources, Native worldview related to forest use, Native concepts of land ownership and land use, Native concepts of sustainable development, Native concepts of self-reliance, Native interpretations of big business thinking as it is expressed in mass consumer industries, Native interpretations of the colonial process, Native women's points of view on all these matters, Native advice on how to formulate a policy for alternative development, Native advice to the global sustainable development effort. Many thanks in advance, C. W. Brown, PhD, Visiting Researcher from Sweden, Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University, North York, Ontario. charles@yunccn.uucp ists!yunccn!charles
