"Ottawa (Special) - Supporters of jailed Indian activist Leonard Peltier may turn to the United Nations after the Supreme Court of Canada refused yesterday to reopen his 13-year-old extradition case. As is customary, the country's highest court gave no reasons for refusing to hear the appeal of a 1976 ruling ordering him returned to the United States for the killing of two FBI agents on a South Dakota reserve. ... He was arrested in Hinton, Alta., in February, 1976, and was later extradited after appeals to Canadian courts and the federal justice minister failed." ...The Toronto Star, Friday, June 23, 1989
