I DO love a lot of things on CBC, and especially CBC Radio.
I usually listen to the RCAF when I can.
In its "opening credits", they say something in French that
sounds like: "Ici fas Canada" (sp). Can anyone give a
good translation of what this sort of means in English?

They are saying "Ici Farce Canada", which means, "This is the [Royal]
Canadian [Air] Farce"...

They actually say "Ici farce Canada", which is a take-off on the french CBC (SRC-Societe Radio Canada) identifing phrase "Ici Radio Canada". The SRC phrase means "This is the CBC", while the take-off means "This is funny radio Canada" (or thereabouts). hope you can sleep at nights now, ...rob

This seems a little contradictory. I would guess that a good part of that $50 million is going towards producing and broadcasting matieral for two very good commercial free national radio networks. Without federal funding shows like the Air Farce (and the Frantics, As it Happens, Morning Side and Ideas) would never see the ether. TV may be a different story; but as I don't watch it, I won't comment.
