[ont.micro] New IBM-PC with 10 Meg Disk for Sale

bstempleton@watmath.UUCP (Brad Templeton) (09/28/83)

I have recently bought this machine (eay sept.) and do not have a
display card for it yet, so it has received only a few hours of use.

What we have is:
1 IBM-PC with 256K (fully populated) on the motherboard and
	  one 360K drive
2 One 10 meg winchester drive. Runs dos 1.1 or 2.0
Shugart SA-612 drive, DTC controller, IBM interface.

I would like to sell this for $5,300. This gives you everything you
get in an XT except the one serial port and the 2 extra short slots.
It gives you 128k more ram and an extra chassis (both an advantage
and disadvantage)
I also have an AST Mega-Plus II, which has 2 serial ports, one || port
and is populated with 256K of ram on it. You can add an extra 256K
to this beastie or a game port if you like. This is $800 with 256K

Why I want to sell and WHEN I want to sell.

I want to run another operating system besides MS-DOS. Ie. Coherent.
The problem is Coherent doesn't support my hard disk and it would be
a hassle to prepare a driver. Just about every alternate operating
system supports the XT, although it is more expensive. To avoid hassle,
I wish to switch. There are no problems using my current system with
MS-DOS 2.0, and you are welcome to come by and see it all in operation.
If I move to an XT, my mega-plus with two serial ports is a waste, since
the XT comes with one.

Thus I will sell the mega-plus and move to something cheaper like a 6-pack
plus or quadboard.

All this is pending availability of an XT from friends in the USA.
They will know for sure in a week or two. So I want to know if there is
any interest in this system. Mail me or give me a call.
