Since I proposed that this group should be deleted and its traffic taken over by net.micro, there have been a number of responses. Some were like "Aren't you being precipitate?", and others agreed with me. There were also a couple of specific calls for the group to stay. I originally called for the group to be deleted because I couldn't see that there would be much discussion of micros which would be of interest ONLY to Ontario people -- AND which Ontario people would want to read separately from other discussions that would be in net.micro. After all, there is no reason for ont.micro and net.micro to both exist unless both these criteria are met. It has been pointed out to me that there are topics only of interest to Ontario people, such as where to get things in Ontario. And one responder (but only one) said that he reads ont.micro but not net.micro because of the large volume in net.micro. But I'm still not convinced that there can be much discussion that meets BOTH criteria ... nor that the group now gets any legitimate traffic. There are 3 messages in the group on our system from before my proposal-to-delete, on the topic of random numbers; none of them pertains particularly to Ontario. Random number generators work the same in Manitoba. So I'm going to shut up for a while and see what happens on the group. I admit that I proposed its deletion before mainly on general principles. If it still seems unneeded to me after some time, I'll propose its deletion once again, if somebody doesn't beat me to it. Meanwhile, you may return to your unalerted state.
