A good source for FORTH is Mountain View Press, Inc. P.O. Box 4656 Mountain View, CA 94040 (415) 961-4103 They offer a variety of FORTH systems for various computers, including apples. They also offer a good selection of FORTH literature. See their full-page ad in BYTE. I run a fig-FORTH which I got from them and which I have extensively modified over the last couple years to improve the disk I/O and add new features. This approach requires quite a bit of programming, some of it in assembly language. They also offer ready-to-install systems. If your primary interest is in writing graphics applications, rather than running existing FORTH software, you might want to look at "graFORTH" by Paul Lutus, available from Insoft or from Mountain View Press. This is not a standard FORTH, but I have read that it is a reasonably powerful FORTH-like environment for writing graphics applications. -- Dave Seaman ..!pur-ee!pucc-i:ags "Against people who give vent to their loquacity by extraneous bombastic circumlocution."
