[net.rec] Olympic coverage pro and con

I'm not a great fan of some of the commentators ABC is using for the Olympics,
but I can always turn down the sound. I have learned some things watching
the Olympics. I'd never seen the equestrian events, and the commentary was
great there (I was just bothered that I had to see repeats from the afternoon
that evening). If there is so much going on live and simultaneously, how do
they have time to repeat 45 minutes of coverage from the afternoon?

Other comments: When Blatnick won Greco-Roman wrestling, that was a great
moment and it was handled well. The diving commentary has been excellant even
if they didn't show all the competition. They could have just shown Louganis.
(And I think they have shown as many men in tight-fitting clothes as they have
shown women.) The commentators have tempered their comments a bit after they
were warned about being biased. Cosell is the only one I've heard continue
the blatant US-bias. As for the commercials, remember that we, the people of
the US, through these various companies, are paying to send all those athletes
to the Olympics. It isn't cheap. I just hope they show more than 30 minutes
of the gold medal men's basketball game. Just because the US team is great
doesn't mean they can't show them on TV.

Mostly, I've enjoyed the coverage, just not the commentators.
