(This is the land of the Line-eater) First off, pardons for any sacred laws that are broken by this entry, this is my first foray into the land of Netnews (Oh dear, will it hurt?!). Of more importance is my actual request. I am trying to locate people who enjoy rockclimbing in the Northeast U.S. (actually it is enjoyed in many parts of this country, but I know a flammable statement when I see one). My climbing experience has been mostly in the 'Gunks outside of New Paltz, N.Y. (5.7 - 5.8 range). In March of this year I ruptured my achilles tendon but a recent trip to the 'Gunks has proven the climb-worthiness (?) of the ankle. I basically have my own equipment (and will be purchasing more before Spring '85) and am obviously willing to second to the better climber. Just to get a few points out into the open: 1) I'm not very happy about pitons (in an emergency anything counts) 2) Sir Edmund Hillary need not apply (please, no prima donnas) 3) Not adverse to bivouacs (camping and climbing mix nicely) While I may be looking for a partner, I would also enjoy hearing from other climbers about their experiences (hardware reports, locations, good climbs, epics, falls, etc.). So there, anyone wanting to try some spring climbing can contact me directly, general stories and the like seem to fit well enough in net.rec (please inform if another group is better suited). Thank you one and all. Sincerely, Bill John Navarro hou5e!bjn (Play for more than you can afford to lose, and you will learn the game.)
