In about a year from now, I hope to go down to South America to climb Cerro Aconcagua in the Andes as well as take other excursions. Have any mountaineers out there tackled this mountain? I would like to get info to plan a successful expedition. Things like the best ways of getting down there, how long to plan the expedition, equipment, climbing routes, special cautions & hazards to be aware of, etc. Also, any good ideas on the best and effective ways to get into good enough shape will be appreciated. Thanks. -- ------------------------------------ Bill Mulberry @ Motorola Microsystems, Tempe, AZ U.S.A. I should probably mail this, but other people out there might be interested. There is an article in the July-August, 1985 issue of SUMMIT entitled "Aconcagua's Normal Route" by Dan Leeth. It has just the sort of information you're looking for: logistics, planning, route description, the works. Lowell Skoog John Fluke Mfg. Co. Inc. Everett, Washington
