From @SANDIA.ARPA:DOUG@JPL-VLSI.ARPA Fri Aug 17 17:47:24 1984 My group at JPL has started to need a functional tester to put test vectors through custom designs we've produced. I have heard rumors that there are plenty of them available commercially, and that the Stanford tester board should be looked into. I am looking for as simple and cheap a machine as possible. A 40Mhz analogue tester for millions of dollars doesn't really interest me. I would like a digital tester to work in the 0.5 to 4 Mhz range with 64K bits of input and output to each pin under computer control. If someone offers a contract service for one of the really fancy machines, I would like to know about them for future major projects just in case. Could anyone send me manuals, pointers to manuals, reviews of the brand of tester you are using, etc. I will post any results of the survey to these lists, condensed if needed.
