From: Steve M. Burinsky <smb@maryland> Ted, I spoke to John Ousterhout about when a 2/160 version of Magic would be available. He told me that they are working on it, but he had no idea when it would make its way into the distribution tape. It seems they are trying to use the Sun window manager to allow a mixture of Sun and Magic windows on the screen at the same time, rather than havin Magic manage them all. As far as I know, versions of Caesar and Magic are available to run on the Sun 2/50 and 2/120 with the color option. I wouldn't count on seeing a version of Caesar for the 2/160, however. Berkeley has shelved it in lieu of Magic. Let me know if you get any other responses about Magic on the 2/160. I am expecting mine to arrive in about one month and am anxious to see Magic running on it! I am also getting a Tektronix 6210 workstation, so if you hear of anyone attempting a port to it, I'd like to hear about it. Steve Burinsky smb@maryland

From: ouster@ucbkim (John Ousterhout) Yes, you're right that Caesar is dead at Berkeley so we'll never make it run on a Sun. Magic is currently running here on Sun 160s, but probably won't find its way outside of Berkeley until we put together a new tools release. Current best estimate of this is late in '85. We'd like to include a working implementation of plowing as well as a new user interface in addition to the 160 support, but plowing and the new interface are still under development.
