Terry.pa@XEROX.ARPA (09/17/85)

Lorenzo Aguilar of SRI International has asked me to pass on the
following request for information. If you have information that might
be of interest to him, please respond directly to him, NOT to me.
Thanks...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
As part of the SRI International program in multimedia information
systems, we are requesting information about recent R&D efforts in the
area of multimedia database support for CAD of VLSI circuits.

We will appreciate to receive papers and reports on your recent work
(1982 and after) related to multimedia databases for CAD of VLSI
systems and in general on multimedia databases. We are particularly
interested in prototype system implementations. If you have on-line
information, please send it to Aguilar@sri-tsc, otherwise send air-mail
to:

SRI has an on-going program on multimedia information systems including
several data media: computer graphics, formatted data, text, knowledge
bases, voice, images. One aspect of the program concerns research on
extending database management technology to handle several of the
aforesaid data media. Knowledge bases are considered a medium for
capturing application domain semantics whereas the other media are
considered means for data storage, information capture, and user
interface presentation and interaction. We are conducting a short
study of the applicability of multimedia database technology and this
is the reason for this request.

If you have questions regarding this request, please send ARPA mail or
call me at 415-859-4118. I will apreciate if you ack the reception of
this message. Thanks a lot for your help.
