i also vote for net.music.dead. there are a number of dead heads around here, and i know several who should be on the net at nearby sites soon. i am (still) looking for a copy of ACE. i would like lyrics and guitar chords for various songs which are not published in the 'standard collections'. i am particularly interested in the songs which mention states (of the USA). i already have tennesee jed a few times, and i would like El Paso, Jack Straw, ... i would also like dark hollow, monkey and the engineer, on the road again, ... there is a head and waterbed shop in columbus, ohio near(ish) OSU that sells a couple of dead flags/banners. about 3'x4', nylon, several different colors, two different logos. one is skull and roses and i forget the other. if someone would like to call this place (it is the most obvious shop of that type, i think), check prices and availability, I would appreciate it. any other sources for this sort of thing? other flags or ? does anyone know where i can get an electric skull and/or other dead mirrors? blues for allah or ... any info on west coast concert schedules? thanks. hi heads, David (Reisner) uucp : ...!ucbvax!sdcsvax!logo arpanet : sdcsvax!logo@nosc

In response to the last of David Reisner's questions, there will be a
Dead show at Irvine Meadows sometime at the end of March (I forget
exactly) ... tickets go on sale about the end of February.
There is a Grateful Dead hotline number in San Fransisco which gives
recorded info about all dead shows and Garcia Band, Bobby & the
Midnites, etc. The number is:
(415)-457-6388
It generally takes about one to three minutes and is about as
up-to-date as you can get (although they don't always remove
old info quickly). There is also a similar number in New Jersey,
but I don't know what it is. I suspect they tell you that number
when you call up the SF number.

this evening when i came to my car in its parking lot, a schedule of the spring tour (northeast) was stuck under the windshield wiper. (this is not utterly astounding: i have a "in the land of the dark..." sticker on my bumper, and the car next to mine had a "steal your face" on the rear window) So i pass along the schedule: april 8 Virginia 15 Rochester ny 16 Meadowlands nj 17 ditto 22 New Haven 23 ditto 25 Philadelphia 26 ditto 28 Providence! the exclamation point was there. see you... judith !decvax!brunix!jss

Has anyone heard about the Grateful Dead touring New England in the
near future? A few friends of mine said there were going to be shows in the
beginning of October! More importantly... does anyone know how to find out
when the tickets go on sale? (where's my sleeping bag?)... Thanx!

The Grateful Dead will be touring this fall starting with an
unconfirmed set of four or five shows in the Bay area around
the end of September. The confirmed shows (since I will be
out of the country, I haven't memorized the dates) are all on
the East Coast and include Richmond, Hartford, Augusta, Meadowlands,
and a few others, some with multiple nights.
Tickets are available now by mail order only, for the entire tour
only (the "Dead Pass"...something like $160 for I think about 13
shows). Tickets for individual shows may be on sale by mail order
in the near future.
For the most up-to-date and accurate information, call the Grateful
Dead West Coast Hotline at (415) 457-6388. That gives tour info,
the secondary number to call to get ticket ordering info, and also
the number of the East Coast Hotline (in NJ) that I haven't bothered
to memorize.
I will be in the Arctic during the tour. If anyone plans on taping
these shows, please let me know, I'd love to trade....

There is a ticket "book" (for the full set of concerts) available. Check the hotline, all ye DeadHeads who live back there. I think that you need the east-coast hotline to get full details. Alas, I moved much too slow...
If anyone knows of even *one* extra ticket for the Grateful Dead
Show in Richmond on Oct. 6, please let me know ASAP. Charlotte
should be good, but I have a feeling Richmond will be even better.
thanx,

How about this deadbit:
The *Carolina Grateful Dead Society* (in Chapel Hill, NC) was recently
organized, and has about 60 members. We're officially recognized by
the University!!!
The group has several functions: Last fall we got a bus for the Charlotte
show, and we're going to try to do that for other nearby shows. As you might
guess, much of the activity is exchanging information (facts, rumors, and
otherwise) about the Dead. We're trying to get a tape library organized,
so we can all expand our collections. If anybody has some ideas on how
to set this up on a Unix system, I'd be glad to hear them.
Other plans include having a tie-dye party to make shirts for the club,
which we could sell to fund our trips. Maybe we should have a bake sale, too.
It's great to see people enthusiastic enough to do something like this,
gathering to share some common interest. Are there any other clubs like
this? Let's hear about 'em!

The Dead played two hot shows in Hampton last weekend. It looks like nobody
else is going to post them, so here are the set lists:
Hampton, VA 3/21/85
Alabama Getaway-> China Cat-> I Know You Rider
Greatest Story Playing in the Band->
They Love Each Other hot jam-> Drums-> Space
El Paso The Wheel->
Tennessee Jed The Other One ->
Ain't Superstitious Wharf Rat
Looks Like Rain Johnny B. Goode
Might As Well Around and Around
(Keep Your) Day Job
Hampton, VA 3/22/85
Feels Like a Stranger Scarlet Begonias ->
Cold Rain & Snow Hell In a Bucket
CC Rider Ship of Fools
Brown Eyed Woman Terrapin->
Cassidy Truckin'->
Big RR Blues Smokestack Lightning ->
Brother Esau Black Peter ->
Don't Ease Me In Sugar Magnolia
It's All Over Now Baby Blue
"Bucket" was a *big* surprise, coming out of Scarlet the way it did -
the crowd seemed to love it. Many of the tunes were the same ones
played last Spring at Hampton, but that wouldn't have been as
noticeable if I hadn't been listening to last year's show over and
over. Like they say, the faster you go, the rounder you get.
