[net.lang.prolog] Wanted: info on implementations of D.H.D. Warren's Prolog machine

I have been reading D.H.D. Warren's SRI report, "An Abstract Prolog
Instruction Set," and I have a few questions about implementing a bytecode
emulator for it.

  1. How difficult is it to write such a beast in, say, C for a Vax or
     68000?

  2. What kind of performance can be expected from such an implementation?

  3. Are there any such emulators in the public domain, or at least that
     I could look at?
