[net.rec.bridge] Another 7NT story

halle1 (12/01/82)

This 7NT discussion brings to mind a hand I played several years ago.

What is the fastest claim you have ever seen? How about before the opening
lead. By dummy.

After a Gerber sequence I found myself in 7NT redoubled. While my LHO
(the doubler) was contemplating his opening lead, my partner laid down his
hand, turned to him and said, "OK, lead." He had a long absolutely
solid suit. We had all the aces, and several kings and queens. He could
count 14 tricks regardless of distribution, and I had more besides what
he knew about.

This is the same partner who, when asked the meaning of my bid in the
sequence 2S(weak)-P-4S, replied, "It's either strong or weak, but it is
definitely NOT intermediate."
