North S:T4 H:KT65 D:AKJ5 C:986 South S:AKQJ983 H: D:T43 C:543 W N E S 1H -- 2H 4S -- -- -- West cashes the K,A,Q of clubs, east following. Then West switches to the QH. What's your best line of play? Go up with the K. If it wins, great. However, east plays the ace. Ruff, cross to the spade T, ruff a heart, draw trump, cross with a diamond, ruff a heart. Now run the rest of the trumps. On the last trump, west throws a diamond, keeping the heart J. Now lead a diamond and play the ace, dropping the queen. Why does the queen drop? If west had it, he was squeezed. However, east probably had it, since he might not have raised with only the A of hearts and J of clubs. (If he has the club.) Since if east has it you'll lose unless it drops, assume it drops.
