J9 K4 7642 AQJ108 AQ1087643 J76 A 4 You (South) are dealer at rubber bridge. You're vulnerable, they're not. You open 4S, which is passed out. The opening lead is the K of diamonds. Finesse the ten of clubs. If it wins, cash the ace of clubs, throwing a heart. Then take the spade finesse for an overtrick, losing 2 hearts and a trump at most. If clubs are 6-1 you still may survive if the heart is onside or the spade drops. If the club finesse loses, you are still ok if east has the spade king. Win the return, probably a diamond, and lead a low spade, forcing an entry for heart pitches on clubs. If west wins the spade and leads a heart, you have to guess right, if you can. You will fail only if: west has the spade king, east has the club king, and east has both heart honors. Any other line will lose in slightly more cases.
