NORTH S:K654 H:AKJ4 D:852 C:75 N E S W -- -- 1S 2D SOUTH 4S -- -- -- S:A9872 H:753 D:KT West leads: 9H C:AQ4 First I'll assume spades are two-two, otherwise theres little hope in making the contract. Next I'll place West with a doubleton or less in hearts, giving East the Queen(deduced from opening lead). West must have some high cards so I'll place him with AQJ of diamonds and KC. I play as follows: win AH, low spade to the King, 9S to the AS(saving the 2S in case I need an entry later to try a club fineese), KH, low diamond to the Ten. West will win this trick. Now I'll hope he has no cards left except diamonds and clubs. I also must hope that East has no third round entry in diamonds. West now must play the AD and another high diamond upon which I'll discard my last heart. Now West must give me a ruff-sluff in diamonds or underlead his KC. Making four. If this distribution does not occur which is unlikely, I'll hook the club.
