when talking about a hand, the '10' causes problems.  It is the only
card that needs more than one space to specify.  The solution is 
simple and wins on many levels:  treat the 10 like AKQJ, and call it
'T.'  It is an honor (even though it doesn't have points), just like
the big cards.  In my bridge program, I do this, simply for consistency's
sake (I read a single character for denomination and another for suit
when asking what card to play).
