Gee, has this newsgroup died again? I guess it has to be restarted. Why don't you people stop flaming in net.religion and net.motss and start playing with this one again? Anyway, does anyone out there have a reasonable (i.e., winning) system for preempts worked out? Like do you use OGUST responses? My partner and I have been working out of a book by C.C.Wei called profitting from preempts. It advocates using them for hands with 6 in the suit, no other four card suit, at least two of the top four honors, 6-10 points, and at least half the strength in the suit. Like: S: A J T x x x H: Q x D: x x x C: J x on the other hand, don't open two spades with this: S: Q x x x x x H: A x x D: x x C: K x I mean, it's like more defensive value than offensive value in that hand. So, just like start submitting to this group. -- Randwulf (Randy Haskins); Path= genrad!mit-eddie!rh or... rh@mit-ee (via mit-mc)
