That reminds me of the time I played one club in a 1-1 fit. It was a long time ago and I don't remember the details, but it really happened. I also recall seeing a hand once where someone "sacrificed" in the opponents suit (deliberately) and ended up in a 0-0 fit. And got a good score!!!

Our game has been picking up new players, with most of the early players bidding on the ACOL system (anybody want to discuss it?) or at least some semblance of it given our general inexper- ience. Anyway, in comes a new player to the group who uses a short club con- vention. She never bothered to tell us, and after she opened 1 club, her partner with one club and a garbage hand passed. As it turned out, declarer had 3 clubs and dummy but 1. The trumps didn't even split evenly - I had 6 of them to a couple of the top honors. Needless to say, on that hand, defense made about 4 clubs.

We play a relatively friendly, if not chaotic game of bridge at the computer room where I work. One guy mis-employed the "short-minor" one time (as an overcall...), and his partner, having only 4 points, left his bid in with only 2 of the suit (the name of the suit is withheld to protect the innocent). The guy that was dummy walked around and remarked to his partner (we didn't care, we set them millions...) "Could be worse. At least trump splits 4-4." -- Randwulf (Randy Haskins); Path= genrad!mit-eddie!rh
