C:Anything could be right. Best guess is 6D. If opponents sack in 6H,
continue with 6S.
E:6D is too unilateral.
R:spades could be the better contract.
C:5D should make.
E:5D does leave more room for the possibility that you will get to show
your second suit.
R:Slam seems fairly certain. Playing only in game is not good.
C:dbl. Bidding on is shooting craps. Down four for 700 is realistic if game
is on.
E:It's hard to believe that trying for 700 on this type of hand wins bridge
tournaments.
E:It's hard to justify a bid whose ultimate goal is an average board.
R:It does appear to me that there should be a slam somewhere in all
probability.
C:6C. This is matchpoints. You must find the major suit if possible.
Raise 6D to 7D. Raise 6S to 7S. Convert 6H to 6S implying diamonds.
R:Well done cadomin!judy.
E:6C. Hard to imagine a hand that won't have a play for six. Pass 6D.
Correct 6H to 6S.
E:Gives the best shot to finding the right spot.
R:You might end up playing in spades when diamonds is right, ie 2-5-3-3.
E:pass. Anything else at this point is a guess. Partner is now forced to bid
and hopefully this will clear things up a little.
E:pass. Bid 6D over partner's action(dbl). This implies a two-suiter.
Partner will correct when its right. A direct 6D call implies a one suiter.
R:this seems to work out real well.
By the way, for those who questioned the 2D call, in standard bidding it
shows a weak hand of about 0 to 7 points.
