The VII World Wridge Federation Team Olympiad took place from 27 October
to 10 November in Seattle. 54 countries entered the Open series, and
23 countries entered the Women's series.

Play began with a round-robin qualification. The Open series was divided
into two groups of 27, each of which played one complete round-robin
of 26 matches. The Women's series played one complete round-robin of
22 matches. Scoring was by IMPs converted to victory points using the
new WBF truncated 30-VP scale (15-15 for a tie, 0 VP minimum, 25 VP maximum).

The top 4 teams from each group advanced to a knockout finals. In the Open
series, this was a quarterfinal and semifinal of 64 boards each, and a final
of 96 boards. In the Women's series, the semifinal and final were 64 boards
each. All matches were scored by IMPs, with a carryover based on the results
of the round-robin applied whenever the teams had met previously. (Carryover
in affected matches shown in parentheses.)

Congratulations to the Polish team and the American women's team.

So far, I have heard of three netters headed for San Diego (ihuxe!rainbow,
myself, zehntel!carol). Anybody else out there? Shall we plan a get-together
sometime?
