Playing at a Regional over the weekend, partner and I reached 3NT on the following hands: S A 3 H T 8 5 D A Q J 8 7 2 C K T S T S Q J 8 7 4 H A J 7 6 3 2 H Q 4 D T 9 4 3 D K C J 9 C 8 7 6 4 2 S K 9 6 5 2 H K 9 D 6 5 C A Q 5 3 Partner is declarer, opening lead is heart 6 to Q and K. Partner had no trouble making the contract. At trick two he led a diamond from hand and called for the Ace, felling the King to take 9 tricks. I congratulated him later on making this contract, as I would have taken a finesse and gone down. Turns out he looked over at dummy and thought he saw A K Q of diamonds, so he naturally played high on the first trick! Well, we take 'em however they come... L. R. Custead Univ of Saskatchewan
