Investment/Tax writeoffs on Arabian Horses Since both my wife and I work, we contribute heavily to the IRS every April. She has talked to some people who have invested in Arabian horses as an investment and tax shelter. The initial investment is about $18K with a horse costing about $60K over 3 years. The friends use words like 200% depreciation over 3 years and high profits/low risk etc. Since I have never believed in the free lunch principle, is there anyone that has either experience in this area or knows of published information that is available?
