each year i dutifully declare my homestead tax rebate as "other income" (line 21, form 1040). to satisfy my curiosity, i would like to know whether this is a common or rare practice (naturally i won't act on this info). if you do not itemize, or your state has no similar rebate please do not respond. if you indicate whether this income is alleged to be declared on recent 1040 forms of someone you know (perhaps, but not necessarily yourself), i will respond with a cheerful greeting (mail only please, anonymity guaranteed). peter honeyman
