Protesting the payment of taxes on constitutional grounds has a long history. One of the things that grates on me most is that the IRS blithely ignores the guarantee that one is assumed innocent until proven guilty. Of course, with respect to tax deductions, you are guilty until proven innocent. This practice has been declared constitutional by the Supreme Court in what must be an incredible convolution of logic. Of course, the Court has a vested interest. So much for protections of our freedoms; a government of laws, not men; and other idealistic foofra. Further discussion should probably go on in net.politics -- see you there.
