A few days ago I posted a request for a federal
withholding tax formula. I gained enough information
from respondents to develope a tax calculation program
(written in C on USG 5.0) and have (or will have shortly)
submitted it to net.sources along with a manual page.
The program simply uses a set of tables to calculate the
withholding tax for a taxpayer based on his/her marriage
status (single or married), gross pay, number of exemptions,
and pay periods per year (52 or 12).
