In response to the question about deducting Federal taxes from your taxable income, no. You may deduct state or local taxes (such as the Sales Tax of New Jersey) from your taxable income when figuring your Federal income tax. Airline ticket tax or the Federal Excise tax which appears on your phone bill are Federal taxes, and are not deductible from your Federal Income tax. -Dave Levenson -AT&T-IS -Holmdel
