I recently picked up a state tax form in another state that I was visiting (I had nothing else to read while waiting for a plane) and was surprised at how different the tax structure was from my home state. It would be interesting and useful to anyone contemplating a move to have some guide to what taxes are like in other parts of the country (or even other countries). In particular, what would probably be useful would be: Income tax structure (rate tables, what kinds of deductions/exemptions) Sales taxes (How much, and on what) typical property taxes (What percent of house price goes for taxes typically, and what if any state limitations are there on them.) Anything else likely to cost you at least $100. (for example, Massachussets used to tax you 6% of the value of your car every year.) Does anyone publish this kind of information? Respond by mail and I will summarize to the net. If nobody publishes it, I may (just may) be curious enough to run a survey on it and compile a tax guide to the net. -- Warren Montgomery ihnss!warren IH x2494
