[net.taxes] IRS poking into bank records

rdb@drutx.UUCP (BurnhamRD) (08/06/85)

In the Rocky Mountain News, 6 Aug 1985, is an editorial that says
the IRS, the Justice Dept and the FBI want access to records kept by
banks and government agencies. I do not think this is very new but
what bothers me is that the transfer of financial information is to
be done with out notice to the customer. The reason for the
proposal is to keep customers that are uninvolved in suspected
criminal conduct form being unnecessary confused. I think I would
rather be confused that in the dark.

The IRS basically peeks into bank records; however, it has been known
to also poke them.
