Can anyone give me some practical advice about donating
books, records, and video tape to my local library and
deducting it as a charitable contribution? J.K. Lasser's
is kind of esoteric on the subject (it gives an example of
a U.S. Senator trying to deduct the value of his personal
papers).
Has anyone ever done this? How do I establish the worth of
10 year old technical books? Or slightly used vinyl
opera recordings? Also, what about donating stuff to the
salvation army, like clothes?
