[net.micro.atari] disk drives

RANA and TRAK are both producing disk drives for the Atari
computers. They are single or double density and cost about
300 to 350 mail order. Also look around for Atari`s 810 disk
drives at K-mart, Venture, or other discount store
for a real bargins on a display models. A friend
bought one for $200.00 dollars. Alas it was their last one and
they just wanted to dump it since they were selling the 1050`s.
The 1050`s go for about 380 which is a lot better than the
price for an new 810.

Remember that Atari products ,the old line anyway, do not
interfer with anything. My television puts out more EMI than
my computer or disk drive.

Also if you buy an atari disk drive it is worth your while to
get their service contract on your system. When my parents
old 810 (one of the first ones made) broke and Atari replaced the
entire mechanical guts for nothing.

P.S. The Atari 810 disk drive is actually a MPI model 51 disk
drive with Atari`s own controller and power supply boards.
