() Welcome to Chapter 2 of "Young Man Starts a Potentially Troublesome Business". As you will recall, young Tim Ebling (my friend) is offering a service to subscribers of "Compute!", "Antic" and "ANALOG"; he types all the programs in each months issue of those three magazines onto a disk, and sells it to you. A number of you have contacted me and suggested that I advise him that there may be some copyright issues here. Well, there are, and we have discussed it with a lawyer, and here is Tim's response: " I realize that there have been many misunderstandings of exactly what is illegal and what isn't. I've checked with a number of lawyers, and they have agreed that what I'm doing is legal as long as the buyer owns the issues included on the disk. With each order, I send a 'certification sheet' with which the buyer certifies that s/he owns those issues. Remember, what I'm doing is strictly a typing service; I respect all the copyright laws for the magazines and the software. I have no intention of piracy. Also, due to the higer than expected costs of mailing, a single Magazine Disk costs $5.50 and a 12 month subscription costs $65. Thanks for your concern, Tim Ebling Magazine Disk 1501 River Loop #1 Eugene, OR 97404 (503) 688-6872 " Well, there you have it. Right form the entrepreneurial source. If you have an Atari machine, you might give him a try. IF you own those magazines, however. I think it'd be worth $5.50 to have someone else type all that stuff in for me. CAVEAT: My employer (Tektronix) does not endorse the above service; I am supplying this information as a public service. It is my opinion only. (I think he's a smart kid with a bright future). ____________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing, Jeff Mizener / Tektronix ADG / Beaverton, OR uucp: {purdue,ihnp4,uw-beaver} {ucbvax, decvax, hplabs, uoregon} {zehntel, hplabs, allegra, masscomp}!tektronix!tekadg!jm ARPA: tekadg!jm.tek@udel-relay CSnet: tekadg!jm@tek
