I have been having a tough time with my RANA 1000 disk drive.
The drive gets a lot of CRC errors, especially when first powered
up. After about a half hour, the situation improves; after about
an hour, the drive performs fine. Do I have the only
disk drive in the world that has to warm up? I have checked the
disk speed when it is "cold", and it's OK. When I use it "cold",
it takes forever to load a file, and some commercial programs,
especially those that use double sectoring, don't load at all.
It wouldn't be so bad, except that this is the THIRD Rana drive
I have had (it's only 2 months old, and got sent to me by the
Rana service center after my second drive was returned with
similar problems.). As far as I can tell, I don't abuse the
drive...it just lives on my desk, away from the window and
TV, covered. Anybody have similar problems with their Rana
drives? Anybody with an Indus want to trade...?
