These are some points I came across while reading the July issue of ANTIC magazine. Might be of interest to some DISK DRIVE: TRAK is advertizing a new drive called the "CHAMP" that lists for under $400. It looks similar to their other drives but doesn't have all the fancy readouts on the front. It is double density and comes with: a) double density DOS; b) POGOMAN by Computer Magic (game); c) TRAKMANAGER - Diskette filing system; d) a games and utilities diskette. A TURBO option is also available. AMODEM Program: This was a special issue on communications and contained an article and Version 4.2 AMODEM terminal software. But the letters column also mentioned that Jim Steinbrecher who wrote the article also has a customized version that allows owners of Atari 835 and 1030 modems to upload and download programs. It is available on his ARCADE BBS in Michigan (313)-978-8087 or on disk by mail for $10. If you want an address, mail me. Programs: There is another company, AMTYPE Corp., advertizing that they will type and mail computer magazine programs for Atari, C64 and Apple. Their price is advertized to be from $8.25 per month. Probably depends on machine you own. They type, run, test and mail you a disk each month. ANTIC maintains their own software library of mostly games and utilities that they have published in past issues. They also have some graphics, sound and music demo disks. Four or their games disks are now available on cassette tape. At $10 each plus $1.50 shipping, they are reasonable. Another company, LotsaBytes, is three disks of games and utilities and music that are supposedly public domain programs at $7.95 each plus $1.50 shipping per order. They call them selves a nationwide public domain copy service. Finally, I got an advertizement from a company called OVER SOFT in Michigan that have some real good prices. RALLY SPEEDWAY for $19.95 (cart.), PREPPIE for $9.95 (disk & tape) and PREPPIE II for $12.24 (disk & tape). These are all by Adventure International. Does anyone know is AI is in financial trouble and might be dumping these? Know anything about OVER SOFT? Replies welcome and acknowledged.
