I was thinking very seriously about buying the Microbits MPP-1000 modem for my Atari 800, because it seems like a great modem, especially considering the very reasonable price they are asking. But I have heard recently that because the modem uses the joystick port (which *supposedly*runs at 130 baud) that the modem can't do any faster than this. Is this legitimate? Would Microbits have made a 300 baud modem that could only in practice do 130? And does anybody know anything else abou this modem that would be instructive for me to know. Or is there another modem of comparable cost that would be worth considering? All comments are much appreciated. Dave Iannucci. (or the Vicar) St. Joseph's University, Phila.
