[net.micro.atari] Advanced Music System program

ugmarkj@sunybcs.UUCP (Mark D. Johnson) (03/18/85)

[munch, munch, munch... burp!]

I saw a program called 'Advanced Music System' for the Atari that plays
music while a graphic keyboard displays the piano keys pressed.

Specifically, I would like to get a copy of the documentation for it.
Before you start flaming, I was told that this program is public domain.
(can anyone confirm this fact for me too?)

If some generous person would let me know he has the documentation,
I would gladly arrange a SASE and copy cost reimbursement to be sent
out. Please mail responses. Thanks in advance!

Advanced music system used to be sold through the APX, so I
don't think its in the public domain, except perhaps
now, by default, unless the author still sells/supports it.

Unless some announcement has been made that I haven't heard, Advanced Music
System is not public domain. It is one of the programs formerly sold by the
Atari Program Exchange, and is thus a commercial program. I do not know if
it is still available, although DynaComp and ANTIC (and others?) seem to be
selling some of the APX programs now that APX is dead.

There is a company that advertises in ANTIC called LOTSABYTES that
sells several public domain disks that have AMS music on it and
includes a player piano built in. In addition, they sell a program
on disk called ADVANCED MUSICSYSTEM II that allows you to create
music with your ATARI computer. They claim it is an all new machine
code program that allows you to 1) control pitch duration, envelope
dynamic level, meter, tempo and key and 2) 4 independent voices and
3) 5 octaves per voice and 4) save up to 8200 notes. It includes a
custom DOS and full instructions on a 24K disk. Their address is:

	LOTSABYTES
	15445 Ventura Blvd.
	Suite 10G
	Sherman Oaks, Ca. 91413

The cost of ADVANCED MUSICSYSTEM II is $14.95 plus $1.95 S & H.

Hope this helps...
