>More info on the new Tramiel machine. The 10MB disk referred to in previous
>articles for $600 has removeable media. A 15 MB disk (fixed media) will be
>$400!!. Also, the 3.5" (8.7 cm) floppy, 250K, will be $100. The 500K double
>sided will be $150!!! A spec sheet on the ST implied that both BASIC and LOGO
>are resident. Sales are to start mid April (just in time for Trenton!).
>But only "package deals";a fully populated machine, monochrome mon, and floppy
>for about 800 Georges. This will bring the Amega to market in short order.

I wouldn't bank on any of this information. In every reference I've heard
that's at all close to actual Atari statements, there have been disclaimers
to the effect that pricing is not fixed yet. In addition, most analysts
think that while Atari has announced mid April shipments, they are not
expecting them until sometime later. One thing I did hear though, is that
Atari is even now shipping to specific software developers at a cost somewhere
near $5000.00, can anyone verify this?

The spec sheet I read indicated that both BASIC and LOGO will be available,
but not necessarily resident. A similar rumor I heard (that I later heard
dispelled) was that with Atari's DOS you get a macro assembler and C compiler
as part of the package.

Where did you get this information? Certainly citing the source might help
in judging the accuracy of this information.

"You'll PAY to know what you REALLY think!"

Development systems are available for $4,500, they come with
a C compiler, a macro assembler, GEM (but no toolkit,) and
the TOS. This is supposedly a hand built 512K system.
source- CIS online conference with Trameil and sons.

sigatari claims that units will ship first week of april- the
bundled system mentioned previously. I don't think that there
was any mention of a C compiler or and assembler.

I think that when you can put down 600 credits at KMart, and pick
up an ST, then they will have shipped.
