According to the Globe and Mail (April 5), the new general manager of recently formed Atari (Canada) Corp. of Toronto says its 520ST computer will be available in Canada in mid-May, one month before it is on sale in the United States. Sales of $35-million are being projected for 1985, with about 10 to 12 percent being spent on advertising initially, declining to 7% in later months. The basic configuration of processor, 512K of memory, monitor, 3.5-inch disc drive and mouse will cost $1300 (Can.). Atari also plans to introduce a 15-megabyte hard disc for about $500 (Can.), a printer for about $350 (Can.) and an integrated software package for less than $100 (Can.) The package has word processing, telecommunications, data base management, a spreadsheet and graphics.
