			Theme: Computer Arts

page	article

8	COMMUNICATIONS: The #1 SYSOP
An article about the job Ron Luks is doing as the mail
		sysop on CompuServe's SIG*ATARI.

10	LOGO: TURTLE PIANO
A simple but adaptable logo program that plays a musical
		scale from the keyboard.

12	ANTIC AT THE FIRST GEM SEMINAR
ANTIC was the only magazine represented at the first GEM
		seminar sponsored by Digital Research.

14	PIXEL SCANNER
This BASIC program introduces you to pixel averaging--an
advanced graphics technique similar to the method NASA
uses for enhancing satellite photo details. Demo picture
		is included.

16	ATARI IN LIGHTS
A discussion of how Atari computers help James Brentano
design and soon control the stage for the Drama Department
		At U.C. Berkeley.

21	COLOR PALETTE
Take the tedium out of program color selection with this
		joystick-driver BASIC utility.

22	COLOR THE COVER CONTEST
The winner and runners-up in the ANTIC sponsored contest.
Several reader submitted pictures are shown. The winner
is a scrolling picture and can be down loaded from SIG*
		ATARI on CompuServe. Great Demo!

25	PRINT SHOP
A Discussion of Broderbund's new program for the Atari.

29	COLOR INKLE LOOM
Design intricate 39-thread weaving patterns for the inkle
loom with this BASIC program. Of limited interest to
		most ATARI owners.

30	PLAY IT AGAIN, ATARI
A discussion of the musical ability of the ATARI and
especially what it will be capable of soon with the
		MIDI interface.

35	GUITAR TUTOR
A program that diagrams and plays simulated guitar chords.
		BASIC.

37	THE MUSICIAN
A powerful and versatile "music construction" program. You
can easily compose songs with three-part chord backgrounds-
or simply copy the notes and chord symbols from sheet music.
BASIC. 32K. Sounds like a good program with lots of options.

38	VIEW 3-D
Create 3-D wire-frame outline pictures in your Atari's highest
resolution, Graphics 8 and Graphics 7+. Modify, shrink,
rotate, and otherwise shift your view of the 3-D picture.
Requires ACTION!, Disk Drive and 48K.

43	ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE: TURBO TYPO II
A modification to ANTIC's typing checker program to speed
		up the checking process.

45	G.U.P. THE GREAT
Speed up your BASIC graphics commands and add powerful new
ones--including circles, squares and patterned fills.
ATARI 400/800 owners can now access graphics commands
available only on the XLs. Disk Drive and 48K.

48	GAME OF THE MONTH: HELICOPTER ROUND-UP
This BASIC action game challenges you to round 'em up from
		the air.

51	SOFTWARE LIBRARY
A listing of all the programs that go with the above
		articles.

77	PRODUCT REVIEWS
		Hardware:
		  Colortone Keyboard (Waveform Corp.)

Comments: Koalapad has announced that they are discontinuing their Touch
Tablet for the Atari. If you want one, now is the time to buy
one before it is too late. Software Discounters of America is
selling them for $29.95 (Software is on disk). After reading the
Communications article on SIG*ATARI on CompuServe, I think you
will be convinced that that is where you will want to subscribe
if you have a modem. Does anyone know anything about Q-MODEM by
Quantum Microsystems, Inc.? They advertised as a 1200 baud modem
in Analog Computing but ANTIC calls it a 300 baud modem in its
New Products section. For $149.95 including software, it would
be a good deal if it is 1200 baud. Now that Tim Eberling is no
longer running his typing service, I am looking for a source of
of the programs in the various magazines. I know I could
subscribe on disk but that is megabucks if you want them all.
Anyone know of another typing service? If anyone wants me to
check out anything is particular at the Summer Consumer
Electronic Show, let me know by June 1 so I can compile a list.
