[net.micro.atari] Print Shop/ATR8000 Compatibility

jackson@ttidcb.UUCP (Dick Jackson) (05/13/85)

Antic has a good review of Print Shop from Broderbund. A friend has the
Commodore version and speaks highly. I just called Broderbund to check
that it supports my Okidata Microline 92 printer. Answer = no problem.

Here I must say full marks to this company. The woman in tech support
asked me what printer interface I had. Answer = ATR8000. PROBLEM!

She said they had not tested with the ATR, but had heard Print Shop
would not run through it.

Does anyone know about this? Can anyone recommend another similar
package?

This is the second time I have hit compatibility trouble with the ATR.
It would not load a heavily protected disk (Ultima) which needs a real
Atari drive. Otherwise, I have to add, the ATR 8000 does excellent work.

Please keep me informed of any new information on Print Shop compatibility
with the ATR8000. I've heard lots of good thing about Print Shop, and
have been thinking of getting it. If it dosen't work on the ATR8000
though, It's of no use, as I'm not going to buy another printer interface.

I don't know about your Oki....but don't worry about the ATR8000!
Print shop works just fine with it and my Epson.

The only difference between it and the 850 is you configure the
print shop differently the first time you use it (you know...the
old extra line feed problem!) Luckily, the author thought to
include that feature in the software. After that (since it writes
the configuration back on the disk) you just use it.

The Print Shop works fine with an ATR8000. By the way, it is a GREAT
program; my kids have used it more than any game we have.
