According to the Electronic Engineering Times of May 20, 1985, Atari is going to use VIP Professional as its main spreadsheet for the new Atari's. I quote parts of the article: "VIP Technologies...will be one of the spearheads in Jack Tramiel's attempt to fulfill his promise to provide inexpensive computing power. VIP is to provide a less-than-$100 1-2-3 'clone' for Atari Corp. systems. Atari has licensed the company's product, VIP Professional, as the main standalone spreadsheet for the new Atari ST and XE computers. ...VIP Technologies is so excited by the Atari machines that it is delaying shipment of the newly released 1-2-3 clone for the Apple IIc and IIe. A 'substantial' long-term contract made it worthwhile, Nelson (of VIP) said. VIP Professional can import 1-2-3 files and uses many templates and books written supporting 1-2-3. The company will be providing other vertical market applications for Atari to run on the VIP Professional 'base' product." It looks like this product can be called a true 1-2-3 clone. My only question is 'What happened to Infinity?'. I would like to get it since it sounds like an excellent integrated package. I would ask Matrix Software at the Summer CES, but they arn't listed among the exhibitors. Anyone know anything about Infinity? Will it be available from the company or through software dealers?
