A short note from the Bits & Bytes column by Evelyn Richards in the buisness section of the Wednsday, July 10th morning edition of the San Jose Mercury News. Atari delivered on Tuesday. The Atari user groups that had paid advances for the first Atari ST computers (dubbed Jackintosh) picked up their machines, as scheduled, on Tuesday. The San Leandro Computer Club, for one, took away 13 systems from the loading dock, for which it paid Atari close to $10,000. One essential piece was missing, however: the systems software diskettes. The user group expects to pick them up soon so that the Macintosh-like com- puters will be up and running. --- Kevin Thompson {ucbvax,ihnp4!nsc}!voder!kevin "It's sort of a threat, you see. I've never been very good at them myself but I'm told they can be very effective."
